Maintaining Your Spa Made Simple

Maintaining
Listed below or some guide lines on maintaining your spa. Doing the recommendations will keep you, your family and friends safe.

Other Hints
Couple enjoying their spaPeople should take a quick shower prior to entering the hot tub. This washes away dirt, chemicals, and oils that would otherwise be washed off in the spa. This causes your chemicals and filteration system to work harder than is really necessary.

Why
Remember that warm water is a perfect breeding ground for bacteria and micro-orgamisms. Proper disinfection and filtration of the spa pool water kills these harmful micro-organisms, removes body fats and oils, and ensures the water is clean, safe and crystal clear.

Water Changing
The water should be changed out every week at approximatly 15%. Then adjust your chemicals accordingly. Remember to have your filteration system running when adding new water.

When it becomes difficult to keep the chemicals in the water within the given limits, its time for a complete water change.

When the tub is empty it should be scrubbed using a bleach solution and then rinsed. Don't forget to sanitise the tub cover, the side that faces the water.

After the new water is added you must "shock" the water. This is a process where combined residual chlorine is removed from the water. This "shock" treament can be purchased at your local pool store. Make sure you tell them it's for a spa as some chemials made for pools are not the same for spas.

Chemicals
What are the recommended chemical values? This is a question that many owners probaly cannot answer. These chemical values really looks confusing at a first glance. In reality simple test kits can be bought at your local pool store. Please remember that the chemicals you use are not always the same as pool chemicals.
